Asta (Meme) Adams

Asta (Meme) Adams, 83 passed away peacefully Monday May 3rd. Originally form Erfurt, Germany, Asta escaped from the East Zone when she was 18 years old. She met and married an America Serviceman, Richard Adams. They moved to the United States in 1952, eventually settling in Northern VA. In 1977, they moved to Port Richey, Florida. Asta relocated to Jacksonville in 2001. Asta is preceded in death by her husband. She had two daughters, Carmen (Kurt) Decke of Apache Junction, AZ and Nancy (Tom) Germano of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Tennille, Crystal, Lucas, Juliette and Zachary. Asta had 3 special caregivers, Barbara, Eve and Beverly. She made many friends in Jacksonville and will be remembered by all of those who met her. A memorial service for Asta will be held at the Hadlow Center of Caring Chapel on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Mark Tyre will officiate. Lunch will follow at Meme’s favorite hang out, Woody’s BBQ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JDRF North Florida Chapter, 9700 Philips Highway, Suite 106, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
