Elizabeth "Betty" Scherer

Elizabeth “Betty” Scherer, 82, left home on Sunday, December 20, 2009 and spent her last day at NE Florida Community Hospice on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. She was born on July 3, 1927 to Dan and Marion Shultz. She married Jack William Scherer on March 4, 1949 and together their goal was to make God’s world a better place. Her family was important to her and she was always available for her children. She touched the lives of many people with her generosity and especially the giving of her time.

Betty was a member of the Junior Women’s Club of Arlington and worked with the Arlington Dental Clinic for Children. She was active with the PTA and held the office of PTA President. She worked with the Humane Society. She held her Brokers license and worked in Real Estate. She was Clerk of the Polls, member of GENA and several other organizations. She and her husband Jack owned and operated F & S Sales Company for over 50 years. Betty earned her Associate Degree from Florida Junior College.

She is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Jack William Scherer; son, Mark (Karen L.) Scherer; and daughter, Karen M. Scherer.

Betty requested no memorial service be held. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
