Yvonne Louise Kroetz

KROETZ, YVONNE LOUISE

Yvonne L Kroetz, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to spirit on February 18th, 2024, at the uncompromising age of 97. After a brief Illness, she passed at Community Hospice in the exceptional care of the compassionate staff while surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born in New York City in 1926, she was raised by her loving grandparents and adored Aunt Jenny in Forrest Hills, Queens where she attended high school.  Later, she worked for the Sisters of Misericordia where she learned accounting skills. Yvonne studied voice at the Eastman School of Music & sang in the chorus of the Metropolitan Opera and at such venues as Little Carnegie & the Jones Beach Amphitheatre.  In 1947, she met her husband, Charles, a recent WWII veteran. They married on August 12, 1950 & finally settled in Glen Head, Long Island, NY.

Two words to best describe Yvonne would be Selfless and Compassionate.  Yvonne was an involved mother at North Shore High School, joining the PTA, The Coordinating Council, establishing The Nutrition Committee & becoming a Class Mother, among other community involvements.  She was, to a fortunate group of youngsters, as the neighborhood mom – hers was the home, the home away from home, where the kids all went & everyone called her mom. Upon Charles’ relocation in 1982 to Jacksonville, Yvonne earned her real estate license as she continued to care for her husband & her Aunt Jenny.  Always drawn to the arts, she was accomplished in Tai Chi, knitting, ice skating, tennis, stained glass, singing in church choirs & making lists.  A phenomenal cook, she was effortless in the kitchen.

Yvonne is survived by her three children and their spouses, Madeline, Matthew (Donna); Heidi (Mark); grandson Josh; her dog caretakers, Julia & Onyx (aka, the secret service) & her grand kitties, Ming Ling, Ah-Musette & Annabella.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Charles, in 2012.
