William Ned Failor, fondly known as “Bill,” passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and dedication that touched the lives of many. Born on July 5, 1950, to Shirley and Harlan Failor in Toledo, Ohio, Bill lived a life full of passion, achievement, and most importantly, love.

Bill graduated from Richard S. Rogers High School in 1968, where he began to lay the foundation for his future endeavors. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and music in 1972. A proud member of the marching band, Bill cherished his time with the band and remained a lifetime alumni member, contributing financially throughout his life to the prosperity of his alma mater. His home office was filled with school spirit and memorabilia.

Bill’s career began with an internship at CNA Insurance, setting him on an upward path of growth fueled by hard work and dedication. Bill served as the Director or Training and Employee Development at CNA, where he became the youngest executive officer at that time. Over his 40-year career, Bill held various influential positions within the insurance and brokerage industries, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues.

One of Bill’s proudest accomplishments was his role as an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Risk Management at the Richard T. Farmer School of Business, Miami University, and the Terry College of Real Estate, Law, and Risk Management. The University of Georgie. He was passionate about educating the next generation and took immense pride in his students’ successes.

After retiring from the insurance industry, Bill continued to share his expertise as the Director of the University of South Florida’s Insurance and Risk Advisory Board. He also established his own consulting business, remaining active and engaged until his passing.

Bill married the love of his life, Susan, in 1975. Together, they shared a beautiful life and cherished their son, Brian Adam, who was born in 1982. Bill was known for his compassion and sense of humor, with everyone who knew him having their own special “Bill story.” His light-hearted nature and kind spirit made him a joy to be around, and his absence is deeply felt by all.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years. Bill’s love for his family was unwavering, and he was deeply cherished by them.
