Virginia Collier Wilkins

Virginia C Wilkins, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021 at her home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ginger was born to Doris Adelaide New Collier and Earl Homer Collier on September 25, 1939 in Washington D.C.  Ginger graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1957, and completed an Associate’s Degree in Business at Florida State University in 1959.

June 10, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart George Michael Wilkins.  Ginger worked for H&R Block Executive Tax Service for many years and raised 3 daughters with Mike.  She and Mike retired to Jacksonville, Florida, and become active members of Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach, Florida.  Ginger was very involved in the music program at the Church, Stephen Ministries, and served as a small group leader.  She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, caring sister, and dear friend to many.

Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Wilkins, and sister-in-law, Joy Ramirez.  She is survived by her brother, Bud Collier, sister-in-law, Judy Collier, Daughters Kathy Day, Debbi Beer, and Kim Gonzalez, and Grandsons David Day and Joshua Gonzalez.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 11:00 am.
