Venette Morgan Williams

August 23, 1928 — October 7, 2022

Venette Morgan Williams, 94, died peacefully on October 7, 2022, in Saint Augustine, Florida. She was born In Jacksonville, on August 23, 1928, to the late Edgar and Lorena Morgan.

She is survived by two sons, Robert B. Williams (Cindy) of Jacksonville and William R. Williams II (Bridget) of Saint Augustine; two sisters, Elizabeth M. Scarazzo of Atlanta and Anise M. Willis of Valdosta, Georgia, and is preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Morgan. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Bradly Williams, Chad Williams, Leslie Dawson, and Morgan Monfort; and six great-grandchildren.

Venette spent her childhood in Vienna, Georgia, and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State College and Master’s of Education from the University of Florida. She taught for five decades in school districts across the United States, including Jacksonville, Lincroft, NJ; Bellview, WA; and Dunwoody, GA, specializing in speech, special needs, and English composition.

An avid traveler, Venette spent many summers in Europe and Asia. Her passions included tennis, golf, bridge, music, and the arts. Venette was a long-time supporter of the High Museum of Atlanta and the Falany Performing Arts Center at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.  An avid sports fan, she was particularly loyal to the Florida Gators and served as a house mother to numerous sororities and fraternities at the University of Florida.

Gifts can be made in her name to the Falany Performing Arts Center at Reinhardt University.
