Ursula Martha Bourland

Ursula Martha Bourland, 89, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospice, Jax, FL, January 6, 2022 and was reunited with husband, son, and our Lord Jesus.

Ursula was born June 13th, 1932 in Bronx, NY, the daughter of Joseph & Anna (Cuck) Spinger, German immigrants.  The Spinger family moved from the Bronx NY, to Long Island NY, to upstate New York, and then to St. Petersburg, FL.

April 1954 to Nov 1998, she was married to her beloved, Clair Whitmore, until his death in 1998.  In 1960, they had moved to Houston, TX; & in 1974 relocated to Middleburg, FL.  While raising her 3 children, Ursula worked for doctors’ offices, specializing in insurance claims.

In 2000, she married Dwight Bourland.

Hobbies included dancing and bowling in prior years; Word Chums, calling Bingo and Card Writing for Riverside Park Apartment residents, and sewing.  She was a loyal friend, and a true blessing to her family.

Ursula was predeceased by her husband Clair William Whitmore (1998); son Donald Durrand Whitmore (1994); husband Dwight Bourland; brother George Spinger; & sister Mary Ann (Spinger) Carr.

Survivors include her son, Steve (& Diane) Whitmore; and daughter, Julie (& Kevin) Schmid;

6 grandchildren: Corey Ackerman; Heather, Erin, Megan, & Chris Whitmore; & Amy (Whitmore) Nolte;

3 great-grandchildren: Jessica Guerra, Nolan & Aiden Whitmore;

& her brother, Jerry (Gherhart), & sister-in-law Mary Spinger, along with nieces and nephews.

She was laid to rest in Jacksonville Memory Gardens, with her parents & husband Clair, surrounded by family & friends, who sang her favorite hymns. Bible Chapel Elder Donovan McFarley officiated.  A bronz marker is placed there with her parents' names, Joseph and Anna Spinger.

We will all miss her smiling eyes, gentle touch, sense of humor, and unfailing faith in the Lord.
