Townley Hargraves

Townley Hargraves, 73, of Jacksonville, FL, a beloved teacher, devoted friend, and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love.

Townley was preceded in death by her Mother, Jean Coley Bolden and Step-Dad, Jimmy Bolden; Father, Boyd Hargraves and Step-Mother, Betty Hargraves.

A woman of deep faith, Townley found great joy and comfort in her Lakewood Presbyterian Church family, where she formed lifelong friendships and lived out her commitment to serving others. She was a steadfast friend, always ready with a warm smile, a listening ear, and an encouraging word.

Townley graduated from Emory & Henry College in Abingdon, Virginia, in 1973 with a teaching degree in elementary education. Townley dedicated her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, primarily at Arlington Elementary School in Jacksonville. Her impact will be felt for generations through the students she loved and inspired.

Her love for family was at the heart of everything she did. She is survived by her sister Laura (Chuck) Gersbeck and brother Rae (Denise) Hargraves; niece Ashley (Andy) Davis, niece Courtney Hargraves, and great-nephews Charles, Holt, and Vincent.

A lover of beautiful flowers, her garden and home reflected her nurturing spirit—full of life, color, and care. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew her, and we will see her again in our heavenly home.

A service to celebrate Townley’s life will be held at Lakewood Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 AM.

Being a huge animal lover and devoted pet sitter, donations may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society in her honor.
