Timothy “Timm-E” Edmond Obi passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of June 17, 2019. Born November 13, 1966 in Tacoma, Washington, Timm was the third of five children born to Jimmy Paul and Dayle Macdonald Obi. An affectionate child, he loved to snuggle. Timm grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and attended Lambs Elementary School. He graduated from Summerville High School in 1986 and attended Trident Community College. Timm discovered his passion for computer technology when his parents purchased the family’s first home computer, a TI 994A. He was also a talented poet and his interests included all types of music, reading, online games, Peanuts comics (Snoopy was his favorite), baking cakes, and watching football, especially the Florida Gators. Timm was a fan of NASCAR and thrilled to be able to attend races at the Daytona Speedway to cheer on his favorite driver, Kasey Kahne. He was a lover of all animals, and was “dad” to numerous hamsters, cats, dogs, and even a garden snake. A highlight for Timm was being an extra in the television movies North and South and Love and War , where he met Patrick Swayze. Timm is preceded in death by brother Jimmy Paul Obi, Jr. who passed away shortly after birth. He is survived by both parents; sisters, Deborah Obi Maddox, Dawn Obi Anderson, and Deana Amy Bolduc; daughter Elaine Savannah Beller-Obi; son Ethan Thomas Beller-Obi; friend and former wife, Tara Beller-Obi; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers and to honor his memory, donations in Timm’s name to diabetes or neuro-muscular research organizations would be greatly appreciated.
