Thomas Edward McQueen, 68, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Thomas (Tommy) was born on October 24, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida to Edward and Jackie McQueen. The family moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1963. Tommy was the oldest boy of 6 children, and excelled in sports from an early age. He was passionate about winning and thoroughly enjoyed his time at Santa Fe Catholic High School, where he starred in basketball, football and baseball. During his football career, Tommy threw 74 touchdown passes (36 to his brother, Bobby) in two years, earning an all-state selection. He graduated high school in 1972 with a football scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University.
Tommy was known for his dynamic personality. He never met a stranger and loved spending time with his family and friends. He attended every athletic event for his children and grandchildren, and will be remembered for bringing donuts to the soccer games. He was a natural fit for the sales industry and enjoyed a long a career, recently retiring from Seafood Sales & Service.
Tommy is predeceased by his mother, father, and nephew, Tyler. He is survived by his children Leslie Grayson (Robert), Bryan McQueen (Eva) and grandchildren Emma Grayson, Christian Grayson and baby McQueen, who is expected in December 2022.
He is also survived by his siblings Sharon Flynn (Don), Sandra Altenburger (Mark), Bobby McQueen (Debbie), Debbie McQueen, and Randy McQueen, and their children Eric Flynn (Ali), Kelly Flynn, Felicia Visser (Andre), Donna Shore (Jason), Blake McQueen (Michelle), Ryan McQueen (Darlene), and Anna McQueen.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at St. Joseph's Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville at 10 AM. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
