Susan "Susie" Chappell Mittelstadt

Susan (Susie) Chappell Mittelstadt, 70, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully Monday, April 10, surrounded by family at Community Hospice.

Susie was born to Edwin Hugh Chappell and Margaret Marion Chappell in 1952 in Jacksonville, FL. She graduated from Wolfson High School in 1970 and LaGrange College in 1974. Susie earned her master’s degree in education from UNF. She devoted her life to teaching children for 30 years in Duval County schools.

In 1995 she wed Jim Mittelstadt. They spent many wonderful years laughing, travelling, and spreading joy wherever they went. Susie was an avid crafter and seamstress who loved to create. She loved spending time with family and friends and was a gracious hostess that brought together those she loved in fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 28 happy years, as well as her brother Hugh Chappell (Linda), sister Nancy Fenton (Tom), son Ken Ackis (Kristen), stepdaughter Kristen Bailey (Dylan), stepson Matt Mittelstadt (Amy), grandchildren Otto, Wyatt, Rosie, and Ian and sweet dog Riley.

She will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday April 29 at 10 am at Mandarin Presbyterian Church.
