Steven Perry Hoban, age 67, of Jacksonville, FL died unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, December 16, 2018.

Steve was born on July 5, 1951 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to the late Marjorie and Perry Hoban.  He grew up in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1969.

Steve is survived by his eight brothers and sisters, Sue Knetter (Don) of Gwinn, Michigan, Larry Hoban (Joyce) of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Ron Hoban (Mona) of Hot Springs, North Carolina, Dave Hoban (Patty Ann) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Rick Hoban (Lori) of Phoenix, Arizona, Mike Hoban of Monroe, Wisconsin, Linda Botts (Ricky) of Brooksville, Florida, Patty Lawrence (Terry) of Salem, Oregon and many nieces and nephews who remember Uncle Steve fondly.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Suzy Hoban (Mike).

He was employed as a subcontractor with Woodsman Kitchens at the time of his death and was a skilled and hardworking craftsman.

He had been as avid tennis player at Boone Park for many years.  Steve loved boating and fishing, camping and hiking, and spending time with his family, especially their reunions at Pine Valley Lodge in Rhinelander.  As a member of the Sidetrackers Outdoor group in Jacksonville, he met the love of his life, Mary (Teesie) Mahar and shared his home with Mary and their two special kitties, Cookie and Riley, for over 12 years.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date on Moen’s Lake in Rhinelander, Wisconsin where the Hoban family has made many Wonderful memories together since childhood.

His life was too short, but he lived life on his own terms always.  Rest in peace dear brother and friend.  Sadly and greatly missed.
