Scott Mitchell Welch, age 58, went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2024, after a faithful fight against stage IV pancreatic cancer. He was born on September 8, 1965 in Alliance, Ohio to his late parents, John O. and Virginia M. Welch.
Scott was blessed with a full life of love and laughter. In 1989 he married the love of his life, Kimberly (Rose) Welch. They went on to build a beautiful life together with four children and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John Welch and Virgina (Micketti) Welch. Scott is survived by his loving wife Kimberly, his children Victoria, Haley, and Zachary Welch, Jordan (Zach) Terry and four wonderful grandchildren, Lincoln Welch-Scofield, Elliana and Finnian Terry, and Scarlett Welch; Siblings Rhonda, Tim (Debbie) and Jeff (Tatiana) Welch, and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving family.
Following his 1983 graduation from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he received his culinary degree. He very quickly and adamantly engulfed himself in a full culinary atmosphere and traveled the state of Ohio to make his impact on many restaurants. In early 2008, Scott proudly opened the Blue Olive Jazz Club alongside his family and rocked downtown Canton before his career took him back to Jacksonville, Florida. He rejoined the Gordon Biersch company, which still honors many of his signature dishes to this day. He will always be remembered fondly by his most recent culinary excursion, Flying Fish Taphouse on the Northside of Jacksonville.
Scott, a passionate sports fan, will always be remembered for his relentless love of the Browns, Indians, Cavs, and THE Ohio State Buckeyes. His passion for food, sense of humor, and selflessness are what his closest friends and family will remember him for. Scott always stood strong in his convictions and his passion and love of life and food will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PanCAN, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste. 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. A celebration of life will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, at a time and place to be announced later.
