Sarah Thurston Obituary
April 10, 1950 - January 4, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sarah (Sally) Thurston after a long illness. Wearing her rose colored glasses til the end and with family by her side, she peacefully departed this world on January 4, 2024.
A beloved mother, cherished grandmother, dear sister, favorite aunt and cousin, and wonderful friend to so many, Sally's vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind so many loved ones, including her children Kerry Thurston and Brian Thurston with his wife Heather, and her grandkids Jack, Evan, Emma, Hal, and Gus—also known as Cuckoo's fan club.
Throughout her life, Sally was truly the life of the party. Her zest for life was infectious, and her legacy lives on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to share a laugh, a drink, or a lively conversation with her. We are sure that Sally is now catching up with her husband Paul, parents Hal and Annette, sister Pat and so many other dear friends and relatives who left the world too soon. We can only imagine the party they're throwing up there.
So here's to Sally—may your gardens always be in full bloom, your travels be endless, and the party never stop. Rest in peace, Cuckoo. You'll be dearly missed, but the laughter and love you brought to so many will never be forgotten.
A joyful celebration of Sally's life will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 17th at Power’s Farm & Brewery in Midland, VA . In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Sally’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Master Gardeners of Fauquier & Rappahannock Counties ( https://www.mgfrc.org/ ), who provide community gardens and arboretums in and around Warrenton, Virginia.
