Sara Sutton Lewis

August 21, 1942 — March 11, 2023

Sara Sutton Lewis passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023, after living with Alzheimer’s disease over the last decade.

Sara was born on August 21, 1942 in Goodlettsville, TN, to the late Dan Burton Sutton and Nella Mae (Greene) Sutton.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Donald Lewis, of Ormond Beach, Florida, and her four daughters, Susan (Galbreath) Aranda, Cathy (Galbreath) Hughes, Amy Galbreath, and Julie (Galbreath) Wolf, as well as her two step-daughters, Bunny Lewis and Valerie Lewis.  She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Stephen DeAngelo, Ryan Kovacs, Camille Boyette, and Clayton Aranda; four step-grandchildren, Joni Russow,  Ginger Kelley, Kiersten Russow, and Chad Campbell; and nine step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Sutton, and husband Larry Galbreath.

Sara was first and foremost a good friend, wife, mother, and grandmother, but her passions were music and poetry.  She played many instruments, including piano and guitar, and loved to play, sing, and entertain for any occasion.  She wrote many songs in tribute for a friend or family member, and spent many years singing and playing piano in church choirs and a singing group called The Dilettantes.  In her later years, she loved to travel and see the world with her husband and life-long friends.  Although the Alzheimer’s took away her ability to make music, listening to music still brought her comfort to the end.   Her family will always remember singing around the piano, in four-part harmony, and now imagine she is singing happily in the heavenly choir for all eternity.
