Ruth Freeman Reavis

Ruth Freeman Reavis passed away peacefully November 4, 2019.   A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at River of Life United Methodist Church, 2600 Race Track Rd Jacksonville Florida, 32259.

Ruth was born in Forest City, NC on May 13, 1929 to Spurgeon and Merle Freeman.   She married Perry Reavis on October 6, 1950.   They raised 2 daughters and she was mostly a home maker but also worked as a bank teller and at Rich’s so they could all dress well with a discount.

Ruth and Perry lived in Charlotte NC until they were transferred to Atlanta, GA where they lived for 10 years then to Jacksonville, FL for another 10 years before coming back to Charlotte.   They retired to Bluffton, SC where they played a lot of golf with friends.  Ruth stayed after Perry’s death till 2009 when she came to live in Jacksonville and Venice with her daughter Debbie.  Ruth was an active member of Low Country Presbyterian, Geneva Presbyterian, Englewood UMC and recently River of Life UMC.   She loved to cook for the church and have parties for her friends.

Ruth is survived by her two children – Suzy (Wes) Pittman, John’s Creek, GA, Debbie (Bill) Bevan, Saint Johns, FL.   She is also survived by her granddaughter Rev. Perri (Gil) Martin four great-grandchildren Olivia, Trey, Lukas and Rubie Martin, Saint Johns, FL, her sister Doris Finger (Chamblee, GA), niece Karah Smith, Dalton, GA and nephew Marion Freeman, Eatonton, GA.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial offering to River of Life UMC Capital Improvements Fund ( online at rolumc.breezechms.com/give/online ) where she hoped to help her granddaughter Perri bring the community to find the love and salvation of Jesus or Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 (online at support.communityhospice.com ) who helped us care for her.
