Roy Holmes Mizell, Jr. “Tuck” of Saint Johns, Fl passed away in Saint Johns on Nov. 7, 2018. He was born to Roy Holmes Mizell, Sr. and Nell Morrison Mizell on Jan. 23, 1921. Tuck graduated from the University of Florida in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration. On June 18, 1950, he married the love of his life for 57 years, Velma Jean Durrance. They lived in Gainesville, Fl from 1950 until 1995 when they moved to Westminster Woods in Saint Johns, Fl. In Gainesville he served as a Civic Leader, on the Vestry of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and in The Chamber of Commerce. He was a successful businessman. Owner with Jack Durrance, his friend and brother-in-law, of Gainesville Bonded Warehouse, which became Gainesville Mayflower and then a branch of Allied Van Lines. He loved boating, fishing, RVing with Jean and was an avid Florida Gator Fan. Tuck is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nell, a granddaughter Nancy Marie Miller (1982), his wife Jean (2006), his son Alan Morrison Mizell (2010) and his sister, Jeanette Clay (2015). He is survived by his children: Cynthia M. Whitaker, Longwood, Fl; Christine M. Bowers, Melrose, Fl; and Roy Holmes Mizell, III “Mike”, Augusta, Ga., 7 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10:30 at the Westminster Woods Auditorium.
