Roberta "Bobbie" Mckenzie Wilson

Roberta ‘Bobbie’ McKenzie Wilson passed on September 5th 2022. She was 91 years old.

She was born February 1st, 1931 in Jacksonville FL. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Leona and Robert McKenzie and her son, Michael Ferris Wilson. Also three sisters, Shirley McLeod, Dr. Pat Holliday, and Caroline McKenzie; two nieces, Susan Pimentel and Connie Carter; and one nephew, Chip McCallister.

She leaves behind her only daughter, Melanie Mentz. Three granddaughters, Crystal Boling, Carey Boling and Morgan Wilson and two great granddaughters, Eva and Echo. Her two sisters, Rachel Cook and Maxine McKenzie, and three brothers, Lawrence ‘Larry’ McKenzie , Charles ‘Chuck’ McKenzie, and James ‘Jimmy’ Mckenzie. Also three nephews, Larry McKenzie Jr.,Rob McCallister and Alex Holliday, and three nieces, Debra Dunagan, Kathryn Holliday, and Trinity Baker.

Bobbie owned many businesses, but her favorite was at the flea market. She found and sold treasures there until she was 90 years old. She was a friend to everyone she met, and always did everything she could for everyone. She was a beloved Sister, Mom, Aunt, and Meema.

We will cherish her kind and generous spirit and will share memories and tell stories about her forever. She will be interred next to her parents on Camellia St in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are welcome to pay their respects.

Bobbie in her own words: “Monday July 2022, Today I got the bad news that I won't be here much longer. Who does that? I had to decide if I wanted to do painful stuff, or just go to sleep.

I have never been in pain my whole life and I don't wanna be in pain now! I want everyone to know I love them, and I'm sorry I didn't find the gold. So stop looking! Life has been good to me.

I have never wanted flowers and I don't want them now! I have been helping a little girl, Eva, for over 15 years who has autism. She is my heart. If anyone can do anything to help her I would love it.”

She was always hunting for gold. She never found it because she is the gold.
