Robert Cy Walker

March 27, 1955 — August 29, 2023

Robert Cy Walker passed away August 29, 2023 at 68 years old.  Known as Bobby to his friends and family, he was a native of Jacksonville and attended Hendricks Avenue Elementary where he proudly served on the schoolboy patrol.  He graduated from Episcopal High School after winning many academic prizes including the Thomas Jefferson Book Award and lettering in football, basketball and baseball. Although raised as a Gator fan, which he remained all his life, he attended the University of Virginia where he graduated after taking a 15-year sabbatical.  Bobby was also known locally as “Walt the Arab” from his sandwich shop in Springfield and his radio spots on Rock 105’s morning show where he would use his deep knowledge of sports to provide odds on upcoming games, for recreational purposes only.   The job he enjoyed most was as marketing director for Atlantic Builders because he could use his creative energies to come up with new and interesting campaigns, including the “Its Your Thing” commercial.  He was a former member of the Salaam Club of Florida and a lifelong communicant of St John’s Cathedral.  Bobby was predeceased by his parents Jack and Lillian Walker and is survived by his sister Donna Walker Bell and brother-in-law Tony as well as dozens of friends and a multitude of Saig, Skaff, Walker and Conley cousins.  A memorial service will be held at St John’s Cathedral, 256 E Church St, Jacksonville, FL  32202  on Saturday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. with a mercy meal following in Taliaferro Memorial Building.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St Johns Preservation Fund at the above address.
