Robert Samuel Loiselle, 93, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida passed away on October 17, 2024, peacefully in his favorite chair. It was a Thursday morning. Thursday, according to Google, is a day of positivity and has a lightness to it that helps us to get things done and be more open to learning things. Thursday also serves as an excellent reminder to pay gratitude for the days that have passed and all that you have learnt and achieved.
Robert, Bob, as he was affectionately known, definitely knew gratitude. He also learned and achieved more than most of us can hope for in his ninety-three years.
Born to Robert and Elsie Loiselle on September 9th, 1931, in Montreal, Canada. Bob was the oldest of 2 children. When he was 5 years old, his teacher informed his parents of his musical gifts and luckily, he would go on to share them with the world in so many ways throughout his life.
Bob left Canada at 17 for Haiti. He made his way as a piano player and entertainer from Haiti to Florida and several other stops along the way. Bob joined the Army, got married and had three amazing kids, Adina, Bo and Holly. He served as a Chaplain in the Army and was never too far from a piano. In the early 1970s, he met his beloved wife, Emily. They shared a love of crossword puzzles and before too long, they were married and set out on the beginning of a joyous life together. They welcomed two children, Rob and Michelle, into this world and together had many adventures. Dina, Bo and Holly, Bob’s three kids, would join them in Fairhope as well before finding their ways on their own journeys.
After living in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, and Kansas, they finally found their way to Annapolis, Maryland where he worked as a salesman among other jobs. He was the organist at several churches and one day found his way to St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Annapolis, Maryland.
He served as their organist for several years and after studying for Holy Orders eventually became the Bishop of St. Paul’s. He devoted himself to the church as a leader of fellowship, music and service. He and Emily created a loving and wonderful community at St. Paul’s, and they became their family and their entire world.
Bob will be remembered for his devotion to his wife of 50 years, his service to the Anglican Church, his amazing musical talents and his undying faith. He demonstrated love in all he did and was an example to us all of a life well lived.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elsie, his sister Diane, and his adoring wife, Emily.
He is survived by his five children Adina, Holly, Bo, Rob and Michelle. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Megan, Rachel, Kayla, Lindsey, Nichole, Aidan, Hannah and Collan.
There will be a memorial service held for Bob at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Crownsville, Maryland on Saturday, December 7th at 12:00. There, he will take his final resting spot in the columbarium alongside his wife Emily of 50 years.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
