Robert Anthony Leapley was born in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 1936, to Jacob and Helen McProuty Leapley. He passed away on December 1, 2024, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years and his family.
Robert "Bob" graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland 1959. Prior to retiring he was the Branch Manager for Virginia Fine Printing Paper Company in Tampa, Florida. He served in the U.S. Army. He attended St. Joseph Main Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was an avid football, basketball, and baseball fan. He especially enjoyed watching the Gators and Jaguars football games as well as other College and Professional games. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s football and soccer games.
Robert "Bob" will be remembered as President of the Countryside Cougars Quarterback Club (1983) and for raising money to build a football stadium for Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Jacob & Helen, brothers Francis, Joseph & William Leapley, and sisters Mary King, Helen Meile & Rita Clarke.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife Patricia Leapley, sons Attorney Robert A. Leapley Jr. (Jeanie) & John Francis Leapley (Kellie), daughter Deborah Rogers (Jonathan), grandchildren Julia Rogers, Robert Rogers (Casey), Sierra Newton (Hunter), Garrett Leapley, Carson Leapley, Sean Leapley & Jacob Leapley (Mackenzie), and his great-grandchildren Fischer & Stetson Newton.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on January 4, 2025, at 11am at St. Joseph Main Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Interment will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida at a later date.
