RICHARD ANTHONY MURRAY
Peacefully passed away on September 17 th in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. Born to William and Mary Murray on June 25 th 1934, in Bronx NY, he lived to be 88 years old. Richard attended Power Memorial Academy where he was a STAR basketball player. He joined the United States Marine Corps in which he served 23 years active duty and 7 years Fleet Marine Corps Reserve. He served in Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. He received numerous medals including the Purple Heart. Richard was a devout Catholic, active with the Knights of Columbus in Virginia Beach, VA. He was also a past Commander of the VFW Post #7288 and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Rita M Murray. They were blessed with 6 children, Regina Little (Jay), Patricia Lynch, William Murray, Barbara Ludescher (Bernie), Susan Murray (Mike), and Daniel Murray. 12 grand children, Jeffrey and Jill Little, Michelle Rahardjo, Patrick Lynch, Lyndsey Wells, Elizabeth Pifer, Kelly Wiley, Tyler Kussman, Dylan Overhouse, Scott Cheek and Chris Murray. He also had 15 great grandchildren! Richard loved playing golf, planning and volunteering Charity events, and watching football and golf. His fun loving charm and sense of humor will be missed by many! The family would like to thank the employees at Ponte Vedra Gardens for all the love and support the last 9 months. A Memorial Service will be held in the near future at Quantico National Cemetery
