Richard Raymond Cassidy, 76, of Ponte Vedra, Florida, and formerly of Somers, NY, passed away on February 11th, 2024, due to complications from Muscular Dystrophy. Born in 1947 in the Bronx to William and Mary Cassidy, Richard cherished his childhood memories on Clay Avenue with his dear friends and siblings James, Barbara, Carol, Ronnie, and Maureen. After attending Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, Grace Dodge High School, and Drake Business School, Richard devoted 47 years of loyal service to Aero Hardware, retiring as Treasurer.
In 1974, Richard met the love of his life, Roslyn. Although uncommon for an Irish Catholic man and a Jewish woman to be together, fate had other plans. They were married by both a Rabbi and Priest on August 24th, 1974, in Yonkers, NY. Richard and Roslyn raised their sons, Michael and Daniel, in Mahopac, NY, before moving to Heritage Hills in Somers, NY. They poured their heart and soul into raising their sons with love and devotion. One of Richard's favorite roles was being a grandparent to his grandchildren Jackson, Arnaud, Noah, and Grace.
Richard was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara and Carol and is survived by his wife Roslyn, children Michael (Jennifer) Cassidy and Daniel (Esther) Cassidy, sisters Ronnie and Maureen, brother James, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Richard's love of laughter, family, friends, and the Yankees will always be remembered. His wit, warmth, and sarcasm brought smiles and joy to everyone he met, both old friends and strangers alike. Richard made the most of every moment, whether playing poker, basking in the sun, enjoying a cold can of Coca-Cola (never Pepsi), eating a peanut butter, jelly, and cheese sandwich, drinking Guinness in Ireland, or playing local DJ in his community.
We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Richard will be missed every day, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
