Raymond J. Russell of Jacksonville, FL passed away on February 5, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Ray was born in Yonkers, NY in 1931. He was married for 66 years to Margaret Hayes Russell. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret and his daughter, Margaret Dixon. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law , Julie Ford and Jim Ford of Jacksonville, FL, 5 grandchildren, Kate McDougall of Jacksonville, Megan Kinson of Pennsylvania, Madelyn Phelan, Michelle Czapiga, both from Rhode Island, and Mark Dixon of New Hampshire, and 3 nieces. He is also survived by 8 amazing great grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
Ray was a decorated veteran of the Korean War. He spent most of his adult career as a Postal Inspector in the Boston, MA division. Prior to Korea, Ray worked as a rug designer for the Alexander Smiths rug manufacturing in Yonkers, NY.
Ray loved to golf and was an avid NE Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed travel, taking cruises to the Panama Canal and Cuba in later years.
Services will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
