On February 5, 2021 Philip A Fuss III passed away at the age of 80 with family by his side. He was born to Philip A. Fuss Jr. and Victoria C Korpany in Brentwood, New York. He graduated from Brentwood High School and later graduated from the University of North Florida. He joined the US Navy in 1959 as an enlisted man. He worked his way through the ranks, completed officer training school, became a pilot and eventually retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1984. For a short period in the 70’s, he worked for JEA while he was separated from the Navy post Vietnam. After a short career as a pilot for Republic Express, he became a teacher. He taught at Orange Park Junior High School, Orange Park High School and Clay High School where he retired a second time. Although twice retired, hardly stopped working as he spent many years with Florida State College of Jax. as an examiner. As a devout catholic, he was an active member of St. Catherine’s Church in Orange Park where he loved singing in the choir.
Philip had many passions and hobbies. He loved music and played several different instruments and different types of music from renaissance to blues. He was an avid model builder where he brought miniature scenes to life with his dioramas. He had a fascination for different cultures with a keen interest in Native Americans. He loved to cook and was always excited to make new things for his family to enjoy. But most of all he loved his wife.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents Philip A. Fuss Jr. and Victoria C Korpany and grandson Philip A. Fuss V. He is survived by his wife Cynthia L Fuss, son Philip A. Fuss IV, great granddaughter Alice Fuss, son James M. Fuss (Kristy) and grandson Corey Fuss and granddaughter Jessie Seabolt and great grandson Salem Seabolt, son David Fuss (Terri) and grandsons Isaac Fuss and Caleb Fuss, siblings Tom Fuss, John Fuss, Germaine Meskers, Jim Fuss.
A mass service will be held on Thursday March 18th 2021 at 10:30am at St. Catherine's Catholic Church 1649 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073 & a live stream of the mass will be available on the churches website.
Following the mass there will be a Full Military Honors Ceremony at the Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 at 12:30pm with his family.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Phil Fuss III.
