Peter A Reiman, 93, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Peter leaves his children: Scott and his wife, Diane, of Berryville, VA; Pamela of Winchester, VA; Holly Jakobsons and her husband, Andris, of Hudson, MA, and his daughter-in-law, Cheryle, of Murphy N.C; step-children, Carolyn and James McCarthy; grandchildren, Christopher Reiman, Alyssa Fusisi, Kaitlin Gottuso, Steven Reiman, Joshua and Jason Jakobsons; and his sister, Joanne Eusden. Peter is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia W and his son, Jeffrey. Peter’s death leaves an unfillable void in our lives, yet comfort and meaning are found in the memories of a life well lived.
Born on May 16, 1931, in Boston, MA to the late Harriet and Clarence Reiman, Peter grew up in Newton, MA. After graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University, Peter embarked on a successful career in chemical engineering with Arthur D Little and the Millipore Corporation. Devoted to his family and community, Peter raised his family in Weston, MA and served on a number of the town’s boards and was elected to the Select Board for a period of years.
Upon retirement, he and his wife, Patricia pursued their passion and traveled extensively, visiting 75 countries on six continents, using their home in St. Augustine, FL as a base of operations. After 57 years of marriage to his devoted wife, Patricia who preceded him in death, Peter married Barbara Ann McCarthy at the youthful age of 82.
Peter will be remembered as a compassionate and loving husband and father, a strong yet gentle man who demonstrated unwavering patience and tolerance always eager to listen and offer sage wisdom and insight gleaned from his life experiences. Peter left an enduring legacy, modeling how to think of others with kindness, empathy and the capacity to find the bright side of any situation.
In accordance with his wishes, a memorial service will be held in Weston, MA on May 17, 2025 at the Linwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Mayo Clinic would be greatly appreciated.
