Penelope R. Currier (Penny) was born in Arlington County, VA on December 28, 1944 to parents, Nellie Dean Brown Robinson and John Henry Robinson. She was blessed to be the youngest of 9 children, 7 girls and 2 boys. Penny graduated from James Madison High School in Fairfax, VA. Her greatest joy in life was praising and serving her Lord. She was a loyal servant and went home to be with our Lord on October 10, 2023. She was surrounded by loved ones and passed away at home after a brief illness where she was cared for by friends and neighbors who she affectionately called her angels. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Fees and beloved grandsons Andrew Dizney and Caleb Brown; a sister, JoAnn Adams of Abilene, TX and niece Linda Dillon of Bumpass, VA. Much of her professional career was spent in the banking and mortgage industry.
When she retired, she served as a volunteer in many roles with her church and Solano Grove community where she was a longtime resident. Her childhood passion was riding horses. In the later years, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and neighbors. Her favorite pastime was being Grammy and spending time with her “favorite grandsons” in the many adventures they shared and memories they made. The boys would remind her to stuff her pockets with money before their adventures, and no doubt she always came home with empty pockets from the adventures which included fishing, miniature golf, bowling, a variety of sports the boys competed in, pizza and ice cream.
Penny reminded us all and set a shining example to praise Him. There will be a Celebration of Life service at Christian Family Chapel located at 10365 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 on Thursday October 19, 2023 at 10:30am to gather and celebrate her and her faithfulness. Lunch will be provided by the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to CFC’s Readiosity fund or Betty Griffin Center to support their work with survivors of domestic or sexual violence in our community.
