Patricia Mchenry Bross

April 18, 1923 — October 30, 2017

Patricia McHenry Bross of Atlantic Beach passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at the age of 94. Pat was born April 18, 1923 in Washington, D.C., daughter of Ethel and George McHenry.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert and son Alan “Skip” Bross. She is survived by her daughter Nanci Bross-Fregonara (and Jim) of Elkins, WV and son Gary (and Pat) of Savannah, GA. She had four grandchildren: Colby (and Andy) Bross and Bobby (and Suzanne) Bross both of Atlanta; Julia and John Fregonara of Elkins, WV; three great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Pat graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1944 where she played women’s soccer and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Additionally, she was extremely proud of all the Marines in her family: her father, brother, husband and son and cherished the exciting places the Marine Corps life took her – from Peking to Moscow. After living in 41 places, she moved to Atlantic Beach with her husband 25 years ago.

Pat was an avid swimmer and participated in several national level Senior Games. Her proudest moment was winning gold at the National Senior Games in Pittsburgh in 2005 at the age of 81. Until her last year, she swam almost every day and was happiest in the water.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, November 17 at 1:30 in Johnson Hall, Fleet Landing, and an internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery later this year.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to the Fleet Landing Endowment Fund for scholarships and Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra.

Her family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the loving staff at Fleet Landing.
