Nicholas Mark New Ii

Nicholas Mark New II, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 26th, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL.

He was born to Nicholas (Nicky) Mark New and Elizabeth Jane New on April 15, 1974 in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was a graduate of Wolfson High School, University of Florida and University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Mark was a trusted senior partner and respected leader at a national law firm. Mark served on the firm’s Policy Committee, built and headed the firm’s operations in both Jacksonville and Ft. Lauderdale, and also supervised attorneys in the firm’s New York and California offices.  Mark was widely recognized by clients as the firm’s top trial attorney in Florida, handling their toughest cases and winning most of them.

Mark respected and valued his mentors and was so grateful for their guidance and the opportunities they provided him. He was dependable, loved and an unwavering source of strength for his family. Mark was and will continue to be the cherished husband of Jill New and beloved father of Dagny and Nico. He was a loyal and faithful friend.

Mark was enthusiastically training for another half marathon and was an articulate and captivating storyteller.  He was an eager, lifelong learner, most recently studying French to make the most of an upcoming family trip. Mark enjoyed cooking for his family, orchestrating cooking competitions and elevating the mundane into a celebration. He was a compelling leader honored to receive the most creative Boss’s Day gifts from his generous colleagues.

Mark was the proud author of The Daily Poll and the creative force behind @BortlesBeanie.  He loved collecting art, discovering new music and watching a good movie. Mark will be remembered for his endearing smile, his clever and mischievous wit, and his bold sense of style.

He is preceded in death by his adored father, Nicky New, his maternal grandparents, Wallace William "Bill" Stewart and Elizabeth "Betty" Stewart DeLoach, and his brother-in-law, Matthew "Matt" McMillan.

Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Jill New; two adoring daughters, Dagny and Nico New; his loving mother, Elizabeth Jane New; his dear sisters, Macie McMillan and Mikey Carroll (Ben); his nephews, Joshua and Cooper McMillan, and Grady and Gunnar Carroll; his Aunt Stacey and Uncle Chip Davis and his cousins Tucker and Kinley Davis.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 2nd, 2018 at 3:00 PM, at Mandarin United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Florida with a reception to follow.
