The world has lost a great light with the passing of Mylene Graves Salter, age 72, of Jacksonville, who died on March 29, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Raised on a farm near Academy, South Dakota, Mylene moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1972 after attending South Dakota State University. There she met her husband of forty-eight years, Michael Salter. Together they raised one daughter, Michele Salter Kuzian, and became proud grandparents to four beautiful granddaughters.
With her keen memory, infectious laugh, and scores of funny stories, Mylene brought joy to everyone she met. She was intensely curious about others, leading her to make new friends everywhere she went. She loved visiting with family, going on “adventures” and her daily walks.
Mylene is predeceased by her parents, Myles and Agnes Graves, her aunt Rayola Andrew, her brother David Graves, her parents-in-law Homer and Ora Salter, and her brothers-in-law Homer Salter, Jr., and Michael McMahon. She is survived by her loving husband Michael, of Jacksonville, her daughter Michele (Max) Kuzian, of Broussard, Louisiana, her granddaughters Kalina, Sofia, Kasia, and Ania Kuzian, and her sister Lois McMahon of Harrisburg, South Dakota. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Sharon (Charles) Rathburn of Miami, her brother-in-law David (Linda) Salter of Orange Park, and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
