On Monday March 20, we said goodbye to Morris Brown age 78. He passed away peacefully
surrounded by his family at Baptist Medical Center South located in Jacksonville, FL. He was
born in Bakersfield, CA on August 20, 1944 and lived in multiple locations before joining the U.S.
Air Force at age 19. He served for 12 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Morris was surrounded by music growing up, learning guitar from his mother. He played in a
local band as a teenager and while in the Air Force played in two additional bands, most notably
playing bass guitar with a group called The Taxmen. After leaving the Air Force, he worked as
Parts Manager for various entities. He enjoyed driving dune buggies and riding motor cycles. He
loved classic cars and classic rock music. But most of all, he loved his family. He will be
remembered for his ready smile and sweet nature.
Morris was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Brown, his mother, Lorene Brown, and
sister, Dixie Deaton. He is survived by his loving wife or 43 years, Brenda, and his son, Derrick
along with his wife Egla, and by his sister Donna Brown. He is also survived by his niece Rhonda
Duffy and her husband Dale, as well as their daughter Shanna Deaton and her family.
The family wants to thank everyone who knew him for being a special part of his life.
