Our dear mother Montine Felder Riley, known to her loved ones as Sweet Tina, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 12, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born to J. D. Felder & Minnie Clyde Rumph Felder on July 13, 1945, in Henderson, Georgia.
Montine had a proud career as a selfless Certified Nursing Assistant serving the surrounding Northeast Florida hospitals and private nursing agencies where she provided dedicated care to many patients. Beyond her career she was a determined, resilient, and deliberate mom who cared deeply for her “Guys.” Our Mom was a strict, unapologetic enforcer of Proverbs 13:24; “He that spareth his rod hateth his son, but he that loveth him chasteneth him in good season.” She was a proud member of Shiloh Church, and a former member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Sweet Tina was a fanatical Dallas Cowboys fan who loved her football team. She was also a staunch Florida A&M supporter, having two sons who attended the esteemed HBCU institution.
Montine was preceded in death by her mother and father, her son Jason Donohue Riley, sister Patricia Felder, and brother J.D. Felder Jr.
She leaves to cherish her five sons James Riley III, Terry Arnold (Edwina Denise), Teddy Arnold (CaSandra), Timothy Arnold (Karen) & Tommy Arnold (Keisha), her twelve grandchildren LaSheana Johnson, Joycelyn Arnold, Clarissa Arnold, Courtney Arnold, Alexandria Arnold, Lance Arnold, Corey Arnold (Jacquelin), Xavier Riley, Najwa Jenkins Riley, Morgan Delacruz, Langston Arnold & Christopher LA Arnold, her great-grandchildren Xavier Riley Jr., Ya’niyah Sheely, Jacen Arnold, Wynter Arnold & Raleigh Ayana Arnold, her sister Vera West (George), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She also leaves behind a loving and caring niece Wanda Arnold, and long-time family friend Gerald Davis.
A memorial service will be held for Montine at 11:00am on June 1, 2024 at Shiloh Church with Reverend Alfred Letson Sr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to The Foundation of Community Hospice & Palliative Care.
