Mona Mims Kelley

Mona Mims Kelley, age 81, passed away on April 19, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Mona was born on October 4, 1941 in Ocala, Florida to George Malcolm Mims Sr. and Barbara Proctor Mims.

She spent her early childhood in Williston, Florida with her best friend Billie Sue. She moved to Orange Park with her family and attended Clay High with her best friend Lenora Revels and her husband to be and high school sweetheart Lawrence A. Kelley.

After high school she went on to get married, had two children, attended and graduated Jacksonville University and became a teacher. She taught fifth grade and loved teaching, first at Corrine Scott Elementary for ten years and then went on to teach at Crown Point Elementary until she retired in 2005. After retirement, Mona spent time with her family, doing arts and crafts with the grand kids and the great grand kids and taking them to the Florida Parks.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence A. Kelley, daughter Carry Kelley, grandchildren Kyndal and Brandy, great grandchildren Mary Jane, Charlee, Grayson, Xanthe, and Brayden. Her quick wit, sparkling personality, wonderful laugh and great sense of humor will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.
