Michael Lee Mack, 67, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, with his beloved husband by his side.
Born on March 6, 1957, in Jackson, Michigan, Michael was the son of Maynard and Irene Mack. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for six years, earning an honorable discharge in 1983. Following his military service, Michael embarked on a career in the car service industry as a service manager. His genuine passion for helping customers and connecting with people left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
In October 2013, Michael married his partner of 41 years, Michael Lavender, in the North End of Boston-one of his favorite places to travel. Michael had many interests and enjoyed classic cars, gardening, quilting, cooking, fishing, camping, and everything RV-related. He found joy in all types of music, particularly southern gospel, and had a deep love for animals, cherishing his pets immensely.
Michael is survived by his husband, Michael Lavender; sister, Cheryl (Robert) Laske; uncles Russell (Cloie) Hall and Warren (Gail) Hall; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Irene; sister, Brenda Rose; and half-brother Richard Mack.
Michael will be dearly missed by all who knew him for his big heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness.
Donations may be made in his memory to Community Hospice of Jacksonville, or Jacksonville Humane Society.
