Johnson, Michael Irvin, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was born and raised in Mandarin and resided in Switzerland, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Johnson and Wilda Bennett Buriak, and his sister, Pamela Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandy Johnson; two daughters, Mandy (Bill) Adams of Jacksonville, FL and Tonya (Eric) Andorfer of Jacksonville, FL; two stepdaughters, Jennifer (Jim) Richardson of Pensacola, FL and Summer (Joe) Michaelson of Chesapeake, VA; stepmom, Ann Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Neil (Christie) Johnson of Switzerland, FL and seven grandchildren, Taylor, Waylon, James, Jacob, Kate, Emma and Elizabeth.
Michael never met a stranger. He loved NASCAR, collecting rust (“Got Junk?”), a good fire in the backyard and entertaining. He loved seeing people enjoy his home, his grilling, and his boiled peanuts. Even more than all these things, he loved his family and had an incredible bond with all his grandchildren. His favorite thing to say to Sandy was “This is a test… for the next 60 years.” He will be sorely missed but will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved and were loved by him.
Michael will be cremated; family and friends will celebrate his life on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11am at his home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in memory of Michael, to the American Cancer Society ( https://donate3.cancer.org ).
