Maury Orton Jones, Jr.

Maury Orton Jones Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully at home in Jacksonville, Florida on May 6th, 2024. He was born to Mary Alice Hall Jones and Maury Orton Jones Sr. On October 16th, 1942, in Lakeland, Florida.

Maury graduated from Englewood High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Jacksonville University. His career began in Sales and Management at the J.C Penney Co. He retired in 1997 and settled in Miami, Florida, a place he truly loved. He remained in Miami until he became ill and decided to move home to Jacksonville to be with his family. Maury had a fierce passion for fast cars and always enjoyed watching car races. Maury was a very unique man with a sense of humor like no other. He never met a stranger and was blessed with so many wonderful friends. He had a huge heart and helped many people in need over the years. Maury truly loved spending time with his family in Jacksonville, especially the Holidays. The humor, memories and love that he brought to the table will be greatly missed. It just will never be the same without him.

Maury was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandfather “Daddy Doc” played a very important role in his life until the very end. He loved sharing all of his fondest memories with Doc.

Maury is survived by Rick Jones, Jennie Barfield (Jason), Bob and Theresa Jones, Jeff Jones, Allison Ingle (Jimmy) along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and so many wonderful friends.

At Maury’s request, there will be no public service. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift his loved ones forever. In honor of Maury, you may make donations to the American Cancer Society , Community Hospice and Palliative Care or a charity of your choice.
