Matthew Carl Marcan passed unexpectedly in his sleep on August 28, 2021. He was born December 18, 1980, in San Antonio, Texas, to Yvette and Robert Marcan and moved to Florida in 1982, when his dad was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base.
Matt graduated from Melbourne Central Catholic (MCC ) High School in 1999 and completed his Associate of Arts degree from Pasco-Hernandez State College. He held various positions in the hospitality industry, including general manager of the Melting Pot. He was currently self-employed as a claims estimator for Ask an Adjuster, which he enjoyed as it allowed him to travel and meet people.
Matt is fondly remembered by his high school nickname, Zippy, which he acquired as a member of the MCC soccer team who was so quick to the ball. He had a lifelong love of all sports, especially golf.
Matt had a wonderful sense of humor and was always friendly and engaged with people. He loved life, especially time spent with his sons, Bradley and Brandon. They enjoyed an annual stay at the family’s time share for many years. Matt and his sons also enjoyed visits to the beach, playing golf, reading, cooking together, and many other activities.
In addition to his sons, Matt will be forever missed by his mom and dad, his twin brothers Jeffrey and Patrick (Jennifer), and his nieces Callie and Hunter. Also left to cherish his memory are his girlfriend, Amanda Mann, his 98-year-old grandmother Gisele Labbe, and several aunts and cousins.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Brandon and Bradley’s education.
