Mary Agnes Melvin

With profound sadness, we announce that Mary Agnes Melvin (Merkel) went home to be with the Lord on the night of Thursday, January 24 ^th , 2019.

Mary was born May 23 ^rd , 1943 in Colburn, Indiana to her parents William and Bernaldine Merkel. She was one of ten children. She graduated from East Tipp High School in Lafayette, Indiana in 1961.

Mary was a loving mother to her four children. She was also a caring and tentative grandmother, as well as a devoted wife to her husband, Dennis Melvin for 57 years.

She had a knack for helping people and she put all others before herself. She opened her home to foster children that needed a safe place. She enjoyed spending time with family over a cup of coffee or a game of Rummy. She loved animals, gardening and had the most wonderful sense of humor.

She is predeceased by her mother and father, sister Lola Merkel and her beloved daughter Crystal Melvin.

She is survived by her husband and their children; Charline, Joe and Matthew, as well as her grandchildren; Amelia, Noah, Audrey, Sam, Claire, Sarah and Cooper. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren and many other family members and great friends.

We remember her as “Mom” and “Grandma”, as her children and grandchildren filled her heart and home. We will miss her greatly, each and every day.

A memorial service to celebrate her life of 75 years will be held February 9, 2019, 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 1423 8 ^th Ave N, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
