Mary Ann Kittrell passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 28, 2021 at the age of 75. She was surrounded by her family and friends the weeks and days leading up to her death. The daughter of Gus and Blanche Falana, Mary Ann was a native Floridian who lived most of her life in Switzerland, Florida, now known as St. Johns.
She most recently worshipped at the Macclenny congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Linnie Paul Kittrell; seven brothers, Robert, Arthur, Lawrence, David, Larry, Harold, and Freddy; and three sisters, Sally Lee, Juanita, and Marie. She is survived by two children, Cindy Powell (Mark) and Natalee Herriott (Lance), three sisters, Ruth Stratton, Annette Moody, Stella Turner, one brother, John Millage Falana, and two grandchildren, Gabrielle Powell and Grant Powell.
Mary Ann was a strong southern woman who loved her family fiercely; she lived for family time, especially time with her husband, Paul, and her grandchildren, Gabrielle and Grant. Paul and Mary Ann were a devoted couple who were rarely seen apart. Together they loved to dance, go camping, and travel with friends and family. One of her favorite places to visit was the North Carolina mountains during the Fall. Mary Ann was known for her love of the game of cards; she enjoyed playing with her friends and family at every opportunity…and she rarely lost.
