Mary Anne Adams

Mary Anne Adams, born and raised in Jacksonville, FL,  passed away on October 11,2019 at the McGraw Center for Caring, Community Hospice of NE Fl .She is preceded in death by her parents, Mat  Scarborough  and Marion Elsie Nichols. She is survived by her husband of 21 years; Mark Adams, 3 children from a prior marriage to Michael O’Donnell; Philip O’Donnell (Alexandra), Peter O’Donnell (Kara), Katie Vatter (Todd) and 6 wonderful grandchildren. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Furman University and a master’s degree from Florida State University. She retired from the Duval Co School System as an Elementary School Guidance Counselor to manage her mother’s Child Care/Summer Camp, “Happy Acres Ranch”; which is now owned by her daughter, Katie Vatter and son Philip O’Donnell..

She was an active member of St.  Andrew’s Episcopal Church and received great joy from singing in the choir. She attended Cursillo #69 and continued to stay actively involved.  She was also involved with many early childhood development organizations including DELDN leadership… She loved to knit and quilt for her grandchildren. Taught the oldest grandson science in homeschool one day a week.. She also enjoyed cooking and growing her own herbs and outdoor related activities such as camping, photography and hiking.

Mary Anne loved her children, grandchildren and husband very much.  Because of her kind and thoughtful attitude, she developed deep friendships which lasted a life-time. She will be dearly missed by those who were privileged to have her as family or friend...  She will be most remembered for her passion for life and for the well-being of young children.

Funeral Services will be held at St Andrews Episcopal Church on November 2, 2019 at 10:00 am, 7801 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida.
