Martha F Stovall

February 22, 1933 — April 10, 2020

Martha Fowkes Stovall, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on April 10, 2020.  She was born in Washington DC. to Roy and Lura Fowkes on Feb. 22, 1933.  After attending The University of Maryland, she worked for the US Navy and later Atlantic Bank in Jacksonville. Six weeks after initially meeting on a blind date, she married Mitchell Stovall. They just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Martie held several offices with the Florida chapters of the P.E.O. As a Christian and strong believer in God, she was very active in her church and held several offices in the Presbyterian church, not only locally but nationally.  Martie also had a strong love for music and one of her proudest moments was getting a new 3,549 pipe organ for First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland.

Martie will always be remembered for being a diehard Florida Gator fan and screaming at the TV during football season. She also worked on several local and national campaigns throughout her life for the Republican Party.

Martie is survived by her loving husband, Mitch Stovall, three sons and daughter in-laws; David & Tracey, Dan & Carol, and Douglas & Victoria; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Additionally her two sisters Ruth Cochran and Jean (Colby) Chandler.

After the pandemic has subsided, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Jacksonville, Florida to commemorate Martie.
