Marlene Davis

July 24, 1956 — August 23, 2020

Marlene Davis, lovingly known as Mamaw, Mamalene, Earl, Smart-Mar and The Loop Leader ,64, of Jacksonville,FL passed away on August 23rd 2020 after fighting such a courageous battle for the past 2 yrs.

Born to Tye and Betty Chavies on July 24th 1956 in Pineville,KY

She graduated “6 months early” from Princeton High School in her hometown of Cincinnati,OH

She recently retired from Gottlieb as a medical coder. She was a hard worker who took so much pride in her work.

Marlene loved to spend time with her family, make others laugh and help anyone who needed it.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and working on home improvements. She was able to write flawlessly in cursive on an Etch A Sketch and in her younger years, she could walk on her hands like nobody’s business! Marlene’s very favorite pastime was boasting about “The baby”.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity and her sense of humor.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Tye and Betty Chavies and countless friends.

She is survived by her daughter Shannon Tracy, son in law Ray Rose and granddaughter Ashley Tracy (known to most as “The baby”).

She is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters. Deanna (Mike) Ball, Frank (Heather) Chavies, Bob Chavies, Keith (“June”) Chavies, Kenny Chavies and Laura Chavies.

Marlene also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Way too many to list individually but she loved them all!

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a small family celebration of life memorial to be decided at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.

Because she loved kids and cancer is “hideous”!
