Mark Douglas Hartland age 62, of Jacksonville Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday February 5, 2021. Mark was born March 3, 1958 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to mother Joan Brock and father David Hartland, with a total of 5 siblings. A loving Father, brother, son, and uncle. Mark will be deeply missed. In high school, Mark was an avid diver and swimmer and quickly won many awards and high school patches. Mark joined the United States Army, at 18, for communications. He was a specialist Four in communications and received his Army Commendation Medal on October 26, 1977 “for his outstanding work on the Heidelberg Defense Communication Systems.” In his later years, Mark continued his training in communications by receiving his bachelor’s degree and pursuing the IT and communications field in civilian life. Mark enjoyed camping with family, barbeques, fishing with his children and spending quality time with his brothers. Mark loved the guitar and playing with his brother. Sharing with friends or family. Music was an invincible bond that surrounded Mark and those closest to him.
Mark is preceded in death by Father, David Hartland; Mother Joan Hartland; and Brother Kevin Hartland. In his parting, Mark has left behind memories to wife Shirley Hartland, son Christopher Sullivan; Loving daughter Sarah Hartland; Stepchildren Lana Duniho & Matthew Knight; Brother’s Allen Hartland, Gary Hartland (Alicia); Sisters Karen Travan (Richard), Debra Perez (James) and a wonderful gathering of Nieces and Nephews. Kyle, Jessica, Joe, Kelly, Jennifer, Kristin, and James. Mark Hartland will forever live in our hearts with the endless supply of dad jokes, corny puns, fulfilling memories and most importantly the love of music that connected us all.
