Marie Mckersie

September 28, 1948 — July 19, 2022

Marie McKersie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, and all around amazing person. Marie left this world on July 19th, 2022 at the age of 73.

Marie was born to G. Arthur and Edrie Tunn on Sept 28, 1948. She married her high school sweetheart Bryan McKersie shortly after graduating. Marie and Bryan had three children, Michelle, Steve and Craig, 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel and Ashley Conrad, Malcolm and Alice McKersie, and one great grandchild, Isla Conrad.

When their children were young, Marie decided to live out her dream of raising a family on a large hobby farm near Arthur, Ontario.

Marie was a talented pianist, and often filled her house with music and encouraged sing alongs around the piano. She spent time in her garden, and prepared the best meals her children have ever eaten. She loved to travel spending time in Europe and bravely traveling North America by car with her small children.

Marie spent the past 25 years living in North Carolina and Florida. She enjoyed exploring new places, and appreciated the more cosmopolitan lifestyle, theater and symphonies.

Marie also spent the past 25 years dealing with severe arthritis that at times slowed her down. Although Marie dealt with significant pain, she spent this time filled with joy and laughter. Marie loved to treat herself, whether that was with jelly beans, a Carmel Macchiato or a Caesar to end her day. She’ll always be remembered as someone who fought through adversity and always made us laugh at the most ridiculous things.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends in Canada, North Carolina and Florida.

The family has made a donation to the Arthritis Research Canada ( www.arthritisresearch.ca ) in her honour.

As per her wishes, Marie’s life will be celebrated by her family and friends at a small gathering on August 5th at 2 PM at Guelph Country Club, 133 Woodlawn Rd East, Guelph, Ontario.
