Madonna K. DeWitt “Donna” passed away peacefully at 73, on January 29 th , 2021 at 10:40pm, at Community Hospice McGraw Center.

Donna was born to Arthur & Mildred King on December 10 th, 1947 in Hamilton Ohio. She had 3 siblings, an older Sister Darlene Jones, an older brother Russell King and a younger sister Jackie Anderson. She is preceded in death by both of her Parent’s, her Brother Russell, and Husband Herb. The family moved to Bradenton Florida in her teen years and Donna graduated from Manatee High School there. Donna met her Husband Herbert DeWitt, III at her sister Jackie’s wedding and they married a short time after. Herbert and Donna had 3 Sons together. David, Herbert IV “Herbie” and Michael. Donna was a grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In November 2015 Donna was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and she has fought long and hard for over 5 years. She had celebrations of being cured and dreadful times of defeat. Nonetheless she never gave up. During this time in April, 2017 she endured the loss of her Husband of 44 years Herbert DeWitt, III and Donna didn’t allow that heartache to keep her from fighting. She has always been a strong Woman that never wanted others to worry about her. Donna loved her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren with all her heart and soul. Sometimes she loved too much and forgot that she needed to take care of herself.

Donna has touched many people’s lives and was always willing to help others in times of need. She welcomed youth and adults into her home when they needed to be part of a family. For many, she changed the trajectory of their lives by giving them a steppingstone when they couldn’t find their own way. Donna is known for loving and teaching children. She worked for the School Board as a teacher’s assistant and extended care professional for many years. She threw the best birthday parties and made delicious and beautiful cakes for all occasions. Donna will be missed by many and remembered for her genuine heart. Rest in peace Donna, Mom, MawMaw. We will cherish all the memories made until we meet again.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service is still being planned at this time.
