Louis Steven Kurta of Jacksonville, Florida passed away June 11,2023. He was born to Louis Andrew Kurta and Clarice Geneva Kurta on July 11,1943 in Norfolk, Virginia.
After graduating High School he passed the entrance exam at the US Postal Service and began his 45 year career. He was a Review Clerk and a Transcriber for the Deaf Community at the Post Office. He received several awards and letters of recognition.
As a kid, he was able to travel with his parents and loved spending time at their beach house before settling in Jacksonville. As an adult, he would later take several cross country trips. He loved nature, fishing, running, biking. He loved learning about all cultures and eating international foods and was not afraid to try anything. In his retirement, he enjoyed bird watching, loved playing his keyboard and enjoying his music along with watching country western movies.
He will be remembered by people in the community as Santa as he looked exactly like him with beard, belly, sparkling blue eyes and a laugh that was infectious. By those who know him, he will be remembered for his kindness and ability to laugh easily and his easy going personality. To all who encountered him, he was a walking encyclopedia who knew so many unique and interesting things. every conversation was fascinating and you were sure to learn something new each time.
He was a very Simple and Kind Man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen Belger. He is survived by his lifelong companion and dear friend, Juliette Chevalier, a niece, Julie Cooper and a great niece Ashley.
