Letha Luetta Mann

March 5, 1946 — October 4, 2024

Letha Luetta Mann, 78 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024.

She was born to Harry Wesley Carls and Luetta Grace Weaver Carls on March 5,1946 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and grew up in St. Augustine, FL. After graduating from St. Augustine High School, she began college at St.Johns Community College and then graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. After graduation, she taught for the Duval County school system before moving on to the Clay County school system. She left teaching to work for a small business before ending her career as the assistant to the pastor of Riverside Presbyterian Church, retiring in 2016.  It was this job that gave her the most happiness.

Letha married the love of her life, Jonathan Mann, on May 3, 1986. She was a faithful member of Riverside Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir alongside Jonathan. Letha loved being part of the Auxiliary team for Baptist Hospital downtown, volunteering there for 15 years, where she and Jon brought joyful and soothing music to all, including patients, staff, and visitors.

In addition to singing with the church choir, she and Jon were also some of the initial members of the Orange Park Chorale, which brought them happiness for many years. Letha’s love of music was not limited to only singing. She was also a multi-instrumentalist whose talents and joy shone through when she played the piano and the ukulele. Her love for music was one of her greatest passions, closely matched by her love of cooking and gardening. She and Jon loved their garden and grew an abundance of vegetables that she loved to share with family and friends. She will be remembered for having a big heart and making everyone whom she encountered feel welcomed, loved and, if the opportunity came about, well fed. It was the wonderful times that she was able to spend with her family and loved ones that truly brought her the most joy.

She is preceded in death by her father Harry Carls, mother Luetta Carls, mother-in-law Ruth Mann, and nephew Patrick Mann.

She is survived by her husband Jonathan Mann of Jacksonville, daughters Shana Jundt(Mike) of Green Cove Springs, Luetta Graham (Charley) of Neptune beach, granddaughters Taylor and Harlie Jundt and Willa Graham. Her brother Harry Carls (Mary) and brother-in-law Howard Mann (Janice) as well as many nieces, nephews.
