Larry A. Kelley III passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age 84 with loved ones by his side.
Larry was born in 1939 to Lawrence Abney Kelley Jr. and Frances Lane Kelley. He spent most of his early childhood in Southern California. His father was in the Navy, and they moved to Orange Park, Florida when he was 12. He went to school and graduated from Clay High School in 1957, where he played football and met the love of his life Mona Faye Kelley. They married after high school, had two children. He worked in construction with his father for many years. Then attended and graduated from Jacksonville University with a degree in Psychology. He went on to work with the State of Florida as a psychologist in Florida State Prison until retirement. He loved to fish, but his passion was playing golf. He was on the golf course frequently. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Mona would take them to the Florida parks several times a year. His other great passion was learning, and he earned his master’s degree. His last degree he earned was a bachelor’s degree. He was 80 years old and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
He is survived by his daughter Carry Kelley, grandchildren Kyndal and Brandy, great grandchildren Mary Jane, Charlee, Grayson, Xanthe, and Brayden.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mona Mims Kelley and his daughter Sara Kelley Meeks.
His sense of humor, clever mind, larger than life personality and endless jokes will be very much missed by all that knew him.
