Larry Dean Rowland, son of James William and Rachel Ellen (nee Price) Rowland, was one of 12 siblings from Kewanee, Illinois.

After graduating high school in 1958, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1959 and proudly served his country for over 30 years. While in the Navy, he saw the world, including serving on the U.S.S. Cone and U.S.S. Hartley; and assignments that took him to Brunswick, Georgia; Norfolk, Virginia; Brunswick, Maine; Newport, Rhode Island; Guam; Rota, Spain; Millington, Tennessee; and Alexandria, Virginia. Larry retired from the Navy in 1989 as a Master Chief Petty Officer, then finished his legal career at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Jacksonville. Larry loved all sports, particularly football and the Jacksonville Jaguars, and enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams, family reunions, his wife’s cooking, reading military histories and spending time with his family.

Larry married Marianne (nee Botelho) on Jan 18, 1964, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, who preceded him in death in 1986, and Joyce Holmes Bowden on August 7, 1993, in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was preceded by brothers Bill, Fred, Gary, Harold, Bob, Don and sister Margaret. He is survived by wife Joyce, son Mark Rowland (Erin), daughter Michelle Seredynski (Paul), and stepdaughter Stacey Syrek (Jerry); grandchildren Sean (Taylor), Kristin (Tito) and Leslie; and great-granddaughter Vivienne.

His surviving siblings include Ron (Roberta), Gresham, Oregon; Ed (Deanie), Geneseo, Illinois; Joyce Wade, Kewanee, Illinois; and Al (Sharon), Geneseo, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
