In Loving Memory of Justin Sheffield

March 22, 1971 - March 24, 2024

Justin Sheffield, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on March 24, 2024, 5 years after being diagnosed with stage IV CRC. His departure has left a profound void in the hearts of his wife, Cheryl, and their two adored daughters, Thalia and Mya, as well as his parents, Bill & Judy, his brothers, Luke and Trevor (& Candace), many extended family members, and his many friends across the globe.

Born on March 22, 1971, Justin lived a life filled with passion, humour, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. His love for sports, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, was unparalleled. Justin's encyclopedic knowledge of game play and player stats not only fueled his passion but also led him to a fulfilling career in game design and production with EA Sports. He approached his work with enthusiasm, often serving as a mentor and guide to his team fostering creativity and innovation.

Beyond his professional achievements, Justin had a deep appreciation for collecting sports jerseys and brewery memorabilia. He found joy in exploring new craft breweries alongside his beloved wife, Cheryl, as they embarked on adventures together during their Project Nomad, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Justin's quick-witted dry sense of humour was legendary among all who knew him. Even during the most challenging moments of his illness, he sought to uplift others with a clever quip or a light-hearted remark and left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Justin's calming presence and genuine kindness touched the lives of many, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. In celebration of his remarkable life, a gathering will be held at future date in his ’happy place’, Coote's Paradise in Hamilton, Ontario, where friends and family will come together to honour his legacy and share fond memories of the extraordinary man he was.

Though Justin may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched, the memories he created, and the love he shared. May his laughter echo in our hearts, and may his legacy inspire us to embrace life's adventures with the same zest and enthusiasm that defined his remarkable journey.

In lieu of flowers, Justin requested that you raise a glass in celebration of a life well played and a man well loved.  Please consider donating to a charity fundraiser created on his birthday for the Coalition for Colorectal Cancer in the quest to find better treatments, some of which, helped Justin over the last 5 years. Thank you everyone who reached out to Justin in his final weeks. The living eulogy was cherished by him and allowed him to know how much of an impact he had on the lives of many.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Starr, at Mayo Jacksonville, for being Justin’s quarterback for the latter half of his cancer game and to Dr. Imam from Florida Cancer Specialists for being a great coach in the beginning.  No words can express the gratitude the family has for EA Sports Tiberon who have been unwavering in their support of Justin and his family.

Well, well, well, the time has come for us to say goodbye, Justin, but you will always be deeply loved and profoundly missed.
